Titanium dioxide is an important inorganic chemical pigment, the main component is titanium dioxide. The production process of titanium dioxide has two kinds of process routes: sulfuric acid method and chlorination method. It has important applications in coating, ink, paper making, plastic and rubber, chemical fiber, ceramics and other industries.
It has two kinds of structure, Rutile type (Rutile R) and Anatase type (Anatase A type), rutile crystal structure is dense, relatively stable, small optical activity, and therefore good weather resistance, while having high hiding power and achromatic power.

The main application areas of titanium dioxide: coatings, plastics, ink, paper, of which coatings accounted for 60%, plastics accounted for 20%, paper accounted for 14%, other (including cosmetics, chemical fiber, electronics, ceramics, enamel, welding rod, alloy, glass and other fields) accounted for 6%.
Titanium dioxide in the rubber industry as a colorant, but also has a reinforcing, anti-aging, filling role. Titanium dioxide is added to white and colored rubber products, under sunlight, sun resistance, no cracking, no discoloration, large elongation and acid and alkali resistance. Rubber titanium dioxide, mainly used in automobile tires and rubber shoes, rubber floors, gloves, sports equipment, generally based on anatase. However, for the production of automobile tires, a certain amount of rutile type products are often added to enhance the anti-ozone and anti-ultraviolet ability.
Titanium dioxide is also widely used in cosmetics. Because titanium dioxide is non-toxic and far superior to lead white, almost all kinds of fragrance powders use titanium dioxide to replace lead white and zinc white. Only 5%-8% titanium dioxide can be added to the powder to get permanent white, so that the spice is more slippery, with adhesion, absorption and hiding power. Titanium dioxide in gouache and cold cream can reduce the feeling of greasy and transparent. Titanium dioxide can also be used in various other spices, sunscreens, saponins, white soaps and toothpastes.
