Paraffin oil (or paraffin oil) refers to any colorless and odorless higher alkane extracted from mineral sources, especially petroleum fractions. Usually, paraffin oil is a by-product in the process of fractionating petroleum and manufacturing gasoline from petroleum raw materials. Paraffin oil is transparent and colorless, mainly composed of alkanes and cyclic paraffins (related to Vaseline). Paraffin oil can be classified into light and heavy grades, with a density of approximately 0.8g /cm ³.
As a defoamer and coating agent, it is stipulated in China that it can be used for the preservation of gummy candies and eggs, with a maximum usage of 5.0g/kg.
