Zinc stearate is used as a stabilizer for polyvinyl chloride. When used in combination with barium-cadmium soaps, it is mainly applied to soft products. Its characteristic is that it can inhibit initial discoloration and prevent sulfidation pollution. Zinc stearate can also be used as a plasticizer for thermosetting plastics such as styrene-based (polystyrene and ABC, SAN resins), phenolic resins, amino resins, and polyester, as well as a lubricant and mold release agent for transparent products. In the rubber industry, it is used as a lubricant and anti-sticking agent for rubber compounds, as well as an activator for vulcanization accelerators.

It is used in the processing of non-toxic PVC and rubber products. When used in combination with calcium stearate and barium stearate, it has a synergistic effect and can effectively improve the photothermal stability of PVC and rubber products. The dosage in PVC processing is usually less than 1 part. It is used as a touch agent for rubber products, and also as an additive in the polymerization of PP, PE, PS, EPS and in the manufacturing of pencil leads. The general dosage is 1 to 3 parts.
