Adipic acid is an important organic dibasic acid with the structural formula HOOC(CH2)4COOH. It can produce salt reaction, esterification reaction, amidation reaction, etc., and can condense into high polymer with binary amines or diols. Adipic acid is an important dicarboxylic acid in industry, which plays an important role in chemical production, organic synthesis industry, medicine, lubricant manufacturing, etc. Its output ranks the second among all dicarboxylic acids.
Adipic acid is the most useful dibasic acid in aliphatic group. Adipic acid has the commonness of aliphatic dibasic acid, including salting reaction, esterification reaction, amidation reaction and so on. The main use of adipic acid is as a raw material for three major categories of products, namely: the synthesis of nylon 66 salt, and then the manufacture of polyamide resins and fibers (nylon 66), nylon 66 is the largest end market for adipic acid; Synthetic polyester polyol for the production of polyester polyurethane; Diester adipate plasticizer. In addition, it can also be used in the production of high-grade lubricants and food additives (acid agents for food and beverage).
